Pregnancy and Birth Choices App

The pregnancy and birth choices app was launched yesterday. Developed by Northern England Clinical Networks for the Local Maternity Systems, in collaboration with women and families, the app will improve how mums-to-be across the North East access information they require through their pregnancy and after their baby is born.

The app provides key information and advice which will help women to make informed choices about their birth from trusted NHS source, all in one place, and right at their fingertips. There is a who’s who of healthcare professionals that mums-to-be will come into contact with before, and after their baby has been born, with a brief description of their role.

Mums and their partners will be able to compare facilities at hospitals across the region to find out which would best suit the type of birth they hope for. Whether it’s the closest maternity unit, or one that is more suitable for those who might have extra healthcare needs – the app helps women to plan where, and how they give birth.

The app will be updated every six months so women can be assured the most up to date information will be made available in an ever changing NHS. Access to the app is via the web: https://www.pregnancyandbirthchoices.co.uk/, then select to download it to a device.
